A few months after releasing their well-received single I Think You Worry Too Much, emerging Britpop quartet MOSES have successfully returned with another addictive anthem, Findings. The catchy ballad was dropped alongside an accompanying music video on Friday 21st of June via Your Favourite Biscuits Records — just in time for a hot and sticky Summer.
Known for their energetic, crisp and honest sound, MOSES took a step back and opted for a slower, smoother vibe this time: the melody of Findings is patient, full of rebounds and elevations. Although the track remains in the same vein of the band’s previous work, it emphasizes the members’ decision to do something unique and innovative: the combination of lead singer Victor M. Moses’ high pitched voice with Rory White’s acoustic guitar sounds, James Creighton’s poppy bass lines and Matthew McCrilly’s steady drumming creates a sweet feeling of achievement.
Next to the great music are, of course, the intriguing visuals: as mentioned above, the band successfully released their fourth single alongside an empowering music video putting the spotlight on female pleasure. The sensual, delicate and truly unique film was thought through and directed by Carol Van Hemelrijck (Hum Hum Production), a young creative always keen to explore limitations and come up with ideas that matter. “I was lucky enough to be given complete freedom by the band when it came to this video. They trusted me to create something I believe in. Something bold and beautiful. Not in a provocative way but in a truthful, honest vision. Something people would react to”, she says in a press release.
The empowering message conveyed through the video does clear justice to the director’s mission: the film puts actress, burlesque performer and model Daphne Huynh in the center of attention, showing her lying in bed, naked, subtly reaching sexual climax. Simple, intense, and beautiful at the same time.
